35 years after his disappearance we are on the eve of Ethan's trial. I look at this photo I took in '78 and wonder, does this snapshot give us insight into a crime that left parents forever vulnerable? Or are we simply looking at an image of a Soho on the brink of change? Could the man peering from the half closed door be the killer and is the other man sitting near the children simply a day worker catching his 10 min break? Could one of these Soho children be Ethan or his sibling?
I snapped this photo while getting a degree at NYU's Galletin division. We were on an artist’s site visit thru the Brooklyn Museum School.
Other images from that day include a griddy street scene, the "IT" Gallery - Castelli - was a game changer spot for artists. Castelli was responsible for putting it's stable of artists on the map as well as the place - Soho. (South Of Houston Street)

“Brother, can you spare a dime?”
Peeking into the offices of the Castelli Gallery.
The other side of the Gallery. Am I glimpsing true art beyond the window?
Looking up at an alleyway between buildings. Buildings in the 1970's were being repurposed into living lofts from their origin - 1800's manufacturing.
