Six year ago, Groundplans founder Jody Harrow traded in yarn for wire and began experimenting using old techniques with a new medium. Each piece of jewelry, lighting and sculpture is handmade and one-of-a-kind because it is constructed from found and repurposed objects joined with wire. After a rug collaboration with Swarovski from years prior, Jody was left with a stock of leftover crystals and wanted to put them to use. Beginning with lighting fixtures, she gradually transitioned into wearable pieces. A long time collector of found treasure, Jody began wrapping other objects into the jewelry - one surviving earring from an antique pair, a spare bead, a remnant of a porcelain teacup found by the sea. remix is a brand committed to sustainability by repurposing items that are commonly forgotten or disposed of. In keeping with our emphasis on sustainability, every piece is carefully packed in repurposed packaging. Any piece made by ‘remix by groundplans’ is unique because of natural variations that are distinctively inherent in the manufacturing of handmade products.
This holiday season, remix by Groundplans debuted at the Spring Place Holiday Bazaar amongst a selection of other founders.
